Effective Business Partnering is the process of contracting with internal stakeholders to effectively and constructively manage expectations and increase engagement, with the aim of interdependently achieving desired outcomes, in an effective and healthy way.

 

Effective Business Partnering involves a process of building a community of internal consultants, who contribute to building a culture of Partnership and collaboration.

 

This Skills Programme enables internal consultants to understand the process, boundaries, context and complexity of their role, and to be able to leverage the knowledge gained, to positively influence and guide community members in pursuit of desired outcomes.

Learn how to partner and collaborate better to get results like an external consultant.

Syllabus
SESSION 1

Explore your consulting landscape  Identify the tensions inherent in this landscape  Embark on a journey of making yourself more powerful: – Living by the values that underpin internal consulting/specialist roles – Applying a consulting framework and process in a disciplined manner – Influencing a return to ‘boundary’ in organisational systems that engage you only at the point of ‘choice’ or implementation  Start building self-awareness – Self as instrument – Your type/style/motivations – Enneagram/Other and what this means for how you show up in your consulting process  Assess your level of practice and determine areas for development

 

SESSION 2

Consulting Lab 1 – Issue framing and what you pay attention to.  Explore your personal power resources and how these contribute to your level of credibility in the organisation.  Build your own “trust equation”.  Identify your political network and sphere of influence.  Explore your type/style/motivations relative to the pursuit of goals and in relation to how your clients might pursue goals.  Consulting Lab 2 – Getting past the ‘gatekeeper’.  Your consulting conversations.  The contracting process.  Consulting Lab 3 – Discovery and contracting conversation.

 

SESSION 3

Consulting Lab 4 – Build your scenario and real play.  Ramp up the learning.  Dealing with resistance. Consulting Lab 5 – Real play the next step of the scenario.  Consolidate key learnings.  Continue your learning – development plan Information session – post workshop assignment and exam.

Assessment

Assessment is an integral component contributing to the success of this module. Participants will be required to participate in a variety of assessment activities that include but are not limited to assignments, action learning projects, case studies and examinations.

The WorldsView™ Academy Learning Process

The WorldsView™ Academy Learning Process underlies all WorldsView™ programmes and is informed by progressive research about learning in contemporary environments. Our learning process consists of four learning channels:

  • E-Learning platform that provides both a base for becoming familiar with  the field of each programme, as well as a space for ongoing exploration;
  • A Classroom engagement where our faculty facilitate rich conversations  and learning experiences to deepen understanding of the field;
  • A Workplace Application, often in the form of a workplace project, to   root learning in the actual work experience of learners and to ensure practical relevance and embodied understanding;
  • and an Assignment/Evaluation, usually a portfolio of evidence combined with an examination, to confirm learning and conform to external examination board requirements, e.g. the Council on Higher Education, to formalise qualification.
Academic Faculty

Only highly qualified and experienced organisation development practitioners are appointed as Faculty in WorldsView Academy. Faculty members are selected in accordance with the specific module criteria as approved by the Academic Board. The requirements for the appointment of Faculty include relevant academic qualifications, experience in developing organisations and facilitation or lecturing experience.

  •  Age exemption (23 years or older)
  •  English at NQF level 6 or equivalent
